Think Globally, Shop Locally this Holiday Season

On Saturday, November 14th, 2009, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., North Suburban Mennonite Church, in partnership with the Ten Thousand Villages of Evanston, will host an international handicrafts bazaar at the Libertyville Civic Center (135 N. Church Street, Libertyville—corner of Brainerd Avenue and Church Street). This international bazaar will feature nativities, ornaments, home décor, jewelry, baskets, stone carvings, toys, fair trade coffee, and many more unique holiday gift items!

Ten Thousand Villages™ provides fair income to artisans of developing countries by selling their handicrafts and telling their stories in North America. The income helps to create sustainable jobs to pay for food, education, health care and housing, thus breaking cycles of poverty. Through its network of more than 150 stores in North America, the program has benefited more than 60,000 artisans worldwide.

In addition to a day of fun fair trade shopping, this event will offer a sampling of fair trade foods, as well as artisans’ stories from around the world.

The bazaar on November 14th is a celebration of many vibrant cultures—expressed through beautiful and useful handicrafts—an opportunity this holiday season for shoppers to give gifts that make a difference! Come celebrate with us!
